In early August, 26 volunteers from across the state came to UMCS as a part of our annual Volunteers in Mission team. Team members worked on landscaping & painting projects, as well as crafting some new benches, updating the tile floors, and creating new storage areas in the basement. These upgrades have helped to ‘spruce up’ the facilities and make the apartments an even better place to live. Our residents have noticed the difference and are grateful!
VIM trip members enjoy being a part of the UMCS community for the week, and along with working on needed projects, they have the opportunity to learn about the different program areas of UMCS from staff members, and directly see the impacts of their work first-hand.
Individuals and groups are encouraged to join the VIM trip each year, so if you are interested in a week-long mission opportunity, contact us to be put on the list for next summer. If you have a group that is interested in a one-day project at a different time during the year, contact Tina Itson (tina.itson@umcs-wi.org) to set up a volunteer project for your group.
